Labor party / Avoda
The Labor party was established in 1968, as a fusion of three parties. The
chairman of Mifleget Ha-Avoda, the Labor party, is minister of defense Amir
Peretz. Avoda is part of the governing coalition is Israel. Mishmeret
Tse’irah ist the youth organization of Avoda.

BMZ
Is a short cut for the German term of "Federal Ministry for Economic
Cooperation and Development" that is headed by Minister Heidemarie
Wieczorek-Zeul. Since she took over this post, the Ministry is financing
the projects of the Civil Peace-Services of the forumZDF.

Fatah / Fateh
Is a short cut for "Palestinian Liberation Movement". Founded in
1959 by Jassir Arafat, Fateh is the most important member organization of
the PLO. Today it is headed by Mahmud Abbas (Abu Masen). Within the
Palestinian Parliament, the Legislative Council, Fateh is part of the
Unity Government. The Shabibet Fateh ist the youth organization of Fateh.

Support Association Willy Brandt Center
The WBC support association is an independent "Non-Governmental
Organization" that was founded in 1997 by individual participants of
the "project group Middle East" of the German Young Socialists
(Jusos). The WBC support association is the responsible body of the Willy
Brandt Center in Jerusalem. As member of the forumZFD, the WBC supporting
association and the WBC in Jerusalem, receive financial support for their
projects by the BMZ.

The "Forum Civil Peace Service" is a fusion of round about 40
member organizations with the objection to complete the classic
development aid. The BMZ is giving financial support to the forumZFD,
which has as main purpose the training of Civil Peace-Keepers. The WBC
supporting association is member of the forumZFD.

Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation
By running two offices in Herzliya and East-Jerusalem, the
Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation is highly engaged with important activities in
Israel and Palestine. This leads to the opportunity of a close cooperation
between the WBC and the FES.

IUSY
Is the "International Union of Socialist Youth". The IUSY is
part of the Socialist International that was headed by Willy Brandt for
several years. The Willy Brandt Center is officially "adopted"
by the IUSY. Jusos, Mishmeret Tse’irah, Shabibet Fateh and Tse’irei
Meretz-Yahad are member organizations of the IUSY.

The Young Socialists are engaged in Middle East politics for decades. By
establishing the "project group Middle East" the German Young
Socialists restated their positions on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
At the same time they intensified their work in the field of Middle East
which resulted eventually in the contract between Mishmeret Tse'irah and
the Shabibet Fateh to build up the Willy Brandt Center. Out of this
"project group Middle East" the WBC supporting association was
founded in 1997.

Meretz
(= energy) was set up in 1996 as a fusion of the "United Labor
Party" Mapam, the civil rights movement Ratz, and the liberal party
Shinui. In the beginning of 2004 Meretz and their youth organization
Tse’irei Meretz became absorbed by the new party Meretz-Yahad.
Meretz-Yahad
Yahad (= together) is the short cut for "Social-Democratic
Israel". This left-zionist opposition party was established in 1997
as fusion of Meretz and Jossi Beilin's party Shahar. Beilin, a peace
politician and former member of Avoda, became first chairmen of Yahad.
Since mid-2005 the party bears the double-name Meretz-Yahad. Tse'ire
Meretz-Yahad is the youth organization of Yahad.

Mishmeret Tse’irah
complete name: "Mishmeret Tse’irah shel Mifleget Ha-Avoda" –
is the "new blood" of the Labor party. Mishmeret Tse’irah is
member of IUSY and official partner of the Willy Brandt Center.
Shabibet Fateh
is the youth organization of Fateh and official partner of the Willy
Brandt Center. As member of IUSY, Shabibet Fateh is a partner organization
of the Young Socialists in Germany (Jusos).
Tse’irei Meretz-Yahad
(= Young Meretz-Yachad) is the youth organization of Meretz-Yahad.
Originally, the German Young Socialists had been in contact with the
left-zionist Mapam party that became part of the youth organization run by
Meretz. Later, the old contacts became revived and as member of IUSY they
became part of the team in the WBC.
World Peace Service
The World Peace Service is one out of six acknowledged institutions of the
classic development aid organizations in Germany. The WBC cooperates with
the World Peace Service to be able to send their peace-keepers according
to the legal basis for development workers.
