Concert on Occasion of Ramadan and Rosh Hashana

Derech As-Salaam in Concert

Derech As-Salaam was formed in January 2008 by three musicians:

Muhammad Zahayka (oud and nay, the arab flute),
Danny Felsteiner (contrabass),
and Haytham Sharbati (darbouka, daf, singing).

Muhammad and Haytham are both Palestinians and live in the West Bank.
Muhammad lives in Sawahra and Haytham in Azariyeh, East of Jerusalem.
Danny is Jewish Israeli and lives in Jerusalem.

The three perform popular and folk oriental music, as well as original music written by the group, in Arabic and Hebrew.
The group's credo is that music can bring people together on the basis of listening, respect, inter-cultural exchange and curiosity, and that by showing how musicians in our region can communicate regardless of their religion and origin, so can the listeners.

The group has performed in Jerusalem (west and east) Tel-Aviv, Haifa and in Sderot, public ranging from children to adults, Palestinians and Israelis.
In Silwan, a Palestinian village in East Jerusalem, the group has volunteered to give music workshops to Palestinian children in the Silwan Ta'azef music school, and has performed for the residents.

"Katayef", Sweets and Drinks will be served.
