In his film, "Masa Mi Darfur" ("Journey from Darfur"), Mubarak sketches his long journey from Sudan to Israel, recreating his imprisonment in Libya and the torture he was subjected to there.
In "Habayit Shel Salomon" ("Salomon's House"), Salomon, 17, who came by himself from Eritrea, depicts the temporary shelter he found in a church at the new central bus station, in the company of devout Nigerians; yet he gradually discovers that this house of God is not suitable for a boy of his age and sets out in search of another home. In her film, "Shelter," 15-year-old Rim from Eritrea portrays her experience in Ketziot Prison, where she was held with her mother and brother. In "Shavim" ("Equals"), 15-year-old Farouk sits in the middle of Tel Aviv's crowded Hamoshavot Square and recites Ran Dankner and Ilai Botner's song of that name ("You are white, I am black"). "Ad Matai" ("Until When?"), a dramatic film written and directed by several of the youths, tells the story of Yunas, 18, and his travails in the kitchen of an upscale Tel Aviv restaurant.

About ActiveVision:

ActiveVision seeks to promote a unique dimension of visual media, presenting the vision of those traditional perceived as passive within the documentary world. Through activities and workshops, ActiveVision facilitates the use of visual arts as a medium for participants to tell their stories in order to initiate positive change in their lives, and to create solidarity within their communities as well as with the broader society. All projects are conducted within the communities themselves, which thus create personal and group documentation and a strong sense of participant and community ownership.
