Communicating Art - The Art of Communication

Two highly qualified women - Margaret Kirreh from the Willy Brant Center and the artist Janet Auman - work with mothers and their children in a rather unusual creative field. The participants learned basic techniques for mosaic and design. They created a mosaic stepping stone from glass pieces, and moved from there to create a 120x90 group mural to be displayed at the center. The workshop was open for Israeli, Palestinian and German woman.

Women Training for Leadership

Jawad Siyam established close working ties with the Sawahre Girl´s High School. This school is one of the onl two schools catering the needs of the Palestinain population within the Jerusalem municipal boundaries. The Sawahre neighborhood is severly affected by the building of the separation wall and it is in general a rather poor and neglected neighborhood.
Once a week Jawad visited the High School in the afternoon and worked on various topics like the analysis of teh conflict, skills in decision making, exercises taht strenghthen self awarness, acive listening, practise of English skills and practise of computer skills.

The Future is in our Hands

This project was the follow - up of the Women Training Workshops in Sawahre. This time it included female and male participants, aged 16-28 ( Sawahre Girl´s High school and Surbahir Sports Club). This project focused on positive encounters with young Isrealis. Without forcing any form of dialogue, the positive atmosphere of the Willy Brandt Center led to some very positive encounters.

Building Palestinian youth skills in political leadership

In the continous violent reality in which Palestinian youth find themselves, a fertile soil for stereotyping and negative images may be found. This affects the youngsters in a sensitive period in which they start creating their own identity on a political, social, personal and professional level. We believe that it is a very important step to participate in building this youth identity, in order to help the youth dealing with their complex life and by providing the needed skills and abilities to activate their participation in the process of positive change.
