The Bereaved Families Forum
Opening of the Exhibition
SIDE BY SIDE
Sunday, 21st of Oct 2007 at 7pm
Side by Side is a photography project by Palestinian and Israeli youth of "The Bereaved Families Forum" whose aims are to raise awareness of the painful situation in the area, along with the desire to come to know the other and the life of the other, and to bring hearts and souls together through cooperative learning and work.
The Project
12 youngsters, half Israeli and half Palestinian, have spent six months
working together, conducting joint workshops where they acquired knowledge
in photography, and received cameras to photograph their lives. They
performed a variety of tasks and learned to put the ideas behind their
pictures in writing.
The participants were accompanied by the education team of the Forum and an
Israeli and Palestinian photographer were responsible for the professional
side of the project.
The Bereaved Families Forum is an organization of Palestinians and Israelis who have lost their loved ones as a result of the existing conflict. They work together to stop the violence on both sides, in order to reach reconciliation, discussion and dialogue.
"PhotoVoice's" mission is to bring about a positive social change in the community by providing them with photographic training through which they can express themselves and generate a potential source of income.
