Matt Beynon Rees is an award-winning crime novelist who lives in
Jerusalem.
As a journalist, Rees covered the Middle East for over a decade. He was
Time magazine's Jerusalem bureau chief from 2000 until 2006, writing
award-winning stories about the Palestinian intifada.

In the follow up, "The Saladin Murders" Omar Yussef, the
mild-mannered Palestinian history teachers is determned to defy all the
ideologues who exploit his homeland.
This time the 56-year-old Yussef travels from his home in Bethlehem to the
Gaza Strip, where he is part of a team sent to inspect UN schools.
Shortly after arriving, though, he becomes embroiled in the case of another
teacher, who has been arrested for espionage...
